Good is the Spring Green
by Jack Veeger
A day propitious for loving
Is one that brims with springtime green
More than a thousand shades of green
With touch of secrecy in wistful longing
Long-dormant urgings reawaken
As if reminded by ubiquitous green
From deep-dark green to ethereal green
That knows that spring is not to be forsaken
Add in suggestive whispering
A giddiness provoked by all that green
The certainty that fruit succeeds the green
And waters giggling and gurgling
Good is the prophecy, good is the green
Good is the wind that spreads new green
